Axon - Lead Unity Developer

About our Client

Axon is the world leader in public safety technology. Originally founded under the name Taser International, Axon has grown from being the first developer of the Taser to being a developer of body cameras, Evidence/Records services, and much more. Axon prides itself on its interconnectivity between devices, calling it the Axon Ecosystem. Each body camera, dash cam, and drone are connected live to their Records and Dispatch service making them the most advanced Public Safety tech company in the world.

The Challenge

The Lead Unity Developer will be leading Axon’s VR/AR team to build virtual training technology for public safety officers. Axon is focused on creating realistic situations for officers around the world that will train them for real-life problems. Traditional training for officers can be time-consuming, unrealistic, and expensive. Building out their VR program allows officers to safely train in more realistic environments.

As they scaled this team, they needed someone to come on as a leader. The Axon VR headset was built from the ground up, and required UI enhancements, scripting of audio, troubleshooting hand-tracking/game physics, and ultimately planning/designing future enhancements to the training program.
